DFW Homes Attractions – The Dallas Museum of Art

The Dallas – Fort Worth area is a gorgeous area to call home and features some of the most beautiful landmarks in the south. It’s a bustling metropolis with nooks and crannies that are both peaceful and within a short distance to major retail outlets, entertainment, and art. This is one of the huge draws of DFW homes. In fact, the Dallas Arts District is a true gem within the city. The arts district is a sprawling 68-acre neighborhood that is home to some of the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing architecture – including buildings created by several Pritzker Prize winners.

The Dallas Arts District is a source of pride for all Texans, as there’s nothing like it anywhere in the world. The district welcomes pedestrians, so parents and families living in DFW homes can feel safe walking throughout the neighborhood and taking in the amazing sights. Among some of the many interesting and informative sights to take in throughout the Dallas Arts District are the Belo Mansion , the Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, and the Dallas Museum of Art.

The Dallas Museum of Art was founded in 1903, and moved to its current location in 1989. What the residents of Dallas didn’t know then was that the museum would become the only encyclopedic museum of its kind – meaning that art and artifacts from all kinds of people and from all over the world are found within the walls of the museum. In fact, it holds more than 23,000 pieces of art spanning 5,000 years of human life. It’s not only mesmerizing to look at the pieces closely, but certainly gives you a different perspective on life.

Some of the most famous art contained in the museum are pieces from the ancient Americas , Africa, Indonesia , and South Africa . Other pieces of interest include European and American paintings, sculptures and decorative arts as well as American and international contemporary art. A sculpture garden is one of the wonderful attractions in the museum, surrounded by beautiful cascading water walls. It’s a breathtaking sight to behold and (along with the other art), is one of the wonderful things that really makes the museum special.

Aside from the works of art (which are visited annually by more than six-hundred thousand individuals all over the country), the museum holds special exhibits and features thousands of activities and programs all designed to bring interest to the museum, art, and the Dallas area. Some programs include family events such as storytelling features, studio creations, and more. They also hold regular live performances by talented jazz musicians.

Individuals living in DFW homes are very lucky to be able to visit the museum anytime they wish. With so many wonderful pieces of art, programs, and exhibits, one visit certainly wouldn’t do the museum justice. It’s a venue to be extremely proud of, and certainly one to take part of whenever the chance arises. Dallas-Fort Worth residents have many immaculate venues to visit and gems to explore, and the museum is one of the most amazing.
